Founded originally by Martin Critchley as a sole trader in 1991, Critchley Architecture And Design (CAAD) was created as a limited company following a company restructure in 2018.

Who We Are

Critchley Architecture And Design (CAAD) are a Chartered Practice with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, now directed by Sarah Roberts and Josh Foreman, who took over the company in 2023 after Martin Critchley retired. Sarah and Josh had worked with Martin for a combined amount of 23 years and in that time they built the approachable yet professional company culture that CAAD has today. With a company history of over 32 years we have a wealth of experience in all kinds of projects as well as established working relationships with many industry professionals and contractors within the south of England.

The practice has a diverse range of skillsets, including accreditations with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology (CIAT) and The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).

Our in house team specialises in planning policy, design, heritage, construction, and much more.

Our studio creates a positive working environment where staff are encouraged and supported to achieve their goals and aspirations. At CAAD we strive to continuously improve the way we practice architecture through continued professional development training and client feedback.

Our Team

Sarah Roberts BA (Hons) MSc AssocIHBC - Director

Sarah began working with the CAAD team in 2012 working as an Architectural Designer and Heritage Consultant. Sarah progressed within the practice becoming a Director in 2018, whilst still working on design projects and specialising in Historic Building Conservation within the company. Alongside this, Sarah is a Trustee of Hampshire Building Preservation Trust where she works on consultancy and restoration projects around the County. As an Associate member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, the CAAD team are pleased to have Sarah's expertise in-house to advise on heritage projects as well as new build projects in historic or protected areas.

Josh Foreman BA (Hons) MCIAT - Director, Chartered Architectural Technologist

Josh Is a Director and Chartered Architectural Technologist at CAAD. Josh has a wealth of experience taking projects through the construction phases.
He joined CAAD in 2015 and since then he has completed a HNC in the Construction and Built Environment, and a Bachelor Degree in Architectural Technology.

Martin Critchley - Founder

Martin was the Founder of CAAD Ltd and in July 2023 we celebrated his 50th year in practice as a Chartered Architect. Martin sadly passed away on the 20th September 2024 after having an exceptional career in architecture. Having mentored and employed over 100 employees variously throughout his career, Martin has made his mark on the next generation of Architects and design professionals. Martin will be sorely missed by so many and is forever in our thoughts whilst we continue to work in his name and honour.

Kieran Martin BA (Hons) - Architectural Technologist

Kieran has a keen eye for detail and recently (June 2024) begun working in our Technical Department as an Architectural Technologist after working for Dorset Council for a number of years. We are pleased to have Kieran as part of the CAAD team as he specialises in detailing larger scale commercial projects, whilst also being skilled in producing photorealistic CGI's to present to our clients.

Angela - Accounts Administrator

Angela is a valued member of the CAAD team carrying out all of the administrative tasks within the office. Angela is vital to the smooth running the office.

Tom Adams BA (Hons) - Freelance Part 1 Architectural Assistant

Tom joined CAAD in 2023 as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. Tom has a keen eye for innovative Architecture and Design and enjoys conveying his ideas with the use of 3D software, hand sketches, and visualization. Tom returned to University to begin his Masters in Architecture in September 2024 but still remains with CAAD on a Freelance basis.

Bailey BA(rk)- Head Barkitect

You will often find Bailey in the CAAD office who will be first to welcome you in. Although, she often sleeps on the job so isn't the most productive member of our team!
